If you know me, at all, you know I love (and am obsessed) with London.
My first visit was right after my Freshman year of High School. I visited with my high school for the international FRINGE festival. We stopped over in London for a few days before reaching our final destination - Edinburgh, Scotland. This was when I first fell in love.
My theory is because at that very first moment I walked out of our dorm-style hostel, I realized that I was free. I was in a foreign country and could do whatever I wanted. I felt like an adult. We were only there for two days so I didn't get to see much, but everything that I can remember was fantastic.
The next time I visited was last summer (2009). It was the first destination on my backpacking trip through Western Europe. Liz, Amanda and I spent 10 days in Great Britain and I loved every single minute. If Liz or Amanda are reading this, they can attest to that fact. I was the VERY first one up everyday. I was the one who made us stay up late the day we arrived so we could get up early and go. Every minute of everyday I wanted to be in the city. It was a major bummer for me that the tube stopped running for a few hours during the night.
I love everything about England.
- The fact that they still have a monarchy (yes - they don't do much and I am a total advocate for democracy, but still.)
- The fact that they have soooo much history on their very doorsteps.
- The fact that they have accents and say things such as: lovely, oh sod it, and bugger.
- The fact that their underground is easy to figure out and fantastic.
- The fact that they have crown jewels.
- The fact that they are just a train ride away from Europe.
- Oh, and Fantastic people like Georgie, Rupert and Tom live there.
I love London so much that I plan on it being a big part of my future! If work or family permits I plan on transferring there from whatever agency I work at in New York City.* If that doesn't pan out - it'll will be some sort of yearly trip.**
I probably should include pictures but I don't really want to right now. If you want to see them go to my blogspot and check out earlier posts about my stay in London.
*I will only work at an agency if it has a strong office in London (unless the market for ad managers suddenly goes bust).
**The yearly trip provides that I have money and time to do so. It also means that my kids will be visiting fairly often.
