Click here to set a title.

So I've been updating myself on the advertising world since I've been out of the loop. While reading agencyspy I came across this commercial:

I just have two comments on the commercial:

1) Sigur Ros is suddenly one of the most popular "let's just do music in the spot" bands. Yes, they are fantastic and extremely inspirational. Especially the cave/rock hitting song that they have on their DVD Heima

2) This commercial reminds me of a campaign that was and is still looked to for it's greatness in simplicity. Wonder what the campaign is? Sony Bravia.

Are these ads similar at all?? Yeah, if you don't notice the similarities you'd have to be blind. But fortunately, I suppose, is that most people would not make this immediate correlation. Me though, being in advertising, am surprised at the lack of creativity. Yes, I love another execution of the same idea. But honestly, to me it's the same big idea just a different execution.

I mean, even the tagline at the end is in the same family -- "Colour Like No Other" & "Let's Colour". Oh well, I'm probably the only one who really cares that they did this. I think the (I guess an ok word would be..) cinematography is great but honestly? Couldn't they come up with something more original??

k. I guess I'll be done with my completely disjointed thoughts. Just thought it was interesting.

When I saw that first commercial, I thought it surely reminded me of another commercial, but I couldn't remember what it was. And then I saw the Sony commercials and it made me mad that the first commercial you listed stole Sony's idea! I think that's as lame as BYU stealing J Dawg's secret recipe and trying to sell it as their own (actually makes me really mad). I think they should be sued. But that's just me, and I'm mean.
