Recently I have found myself with some kind of weird ample time on my hands. At the same time of being ridiculously busy I have also had loads of time. This may be the best time to develop a hobby. I have thought of a few that utilize skills I have developed while at BYU.
Foam Core Modeling
As you can see, that is a car, made of foam. In my past life as an Industrial Designer I used foam core everyday. It was the bane of my existence. I must admit though, that it was loads of fun when I had a functional exacto knife. Well, I could hone this skill and make foam core gifts for all my loved ones!Pottery Design
Above we have a lovely piece of pottery. When I was a wee freshmen I took a course with my sister. My thought process was as follows: Maybe I'll be awesome at this and just surpass everyone! Maybe this will be my life forever and my major!. Yeah, that was short-lived. Yet, it was fun and stress relieving. If this is my hobby I may or may not buy a kiln...A Female Skiier (from the 80's)
The third option is: skiing. I took the beginner course at BYU quite some time ago. When I saw the mountains here it was unbelievable. I had only been once with my ski instructor cousins in Michigan. Out there our black diamonds are Utah's bunny hills. Bonus of this option: I already own all the equipment, and except for the need of a ski wax, they are in great condition. I also get to dress up in 80's attire. If you have money you can buy me a pass and I will use it. Also a car to get up to the mountain. So those are my three current options. I mean, I already have the skills and have done all three before. Maybe I should go with something completely in left field since I've already mastered all three... maybe not.

What about working on your skill set for becoming the future President of the United State. Would that be considered a hobby?
My vote is for the pottery -- I'm a cheapskate and the other two sound too expensive to me!
I think both Pam and Kelly have it right - do some more with local politics and use ceramics to de-stress! Not sure what I'd do with a foam core gift anyway... I mean, besides putting it on my mantle and treasuring it forever! :)
Hahha yes, this christmas everyone will get foam core models following my extensive campaign for the local elections. lol.
