I left my heart in Vernazza

We go to Vernazza thinking it's just one stop on our way to Milan. (at this point we decided maybe just spending an extra night in Milan would be our best bet since we had a place to stay)

Once we step off the train a man approaches us, "Do you girls have a place to stay?"
Liz suspects nothing and says, "No, actually we need a place"
He then continues to offer us a room. Amanda and I immediately being to think of Taken. As Liz is walking and talking with him on the way to our "room" Amanda and I are figuring out what to do if he isn't, ya know, a good person.

Postcard of Vernazza since we couldn't climb this high.

So he leads us down the main road in Vernazza, shows us where the pharmacy is, and brings us to a random Green door. That you open by some string. We go up a dark staircase to a red room. It's perfect. Not creepy at all.

Our Red Room.

Apparently this guy comes recommended by Rick Steves, so if he approaches you (his name starts with E, I don't remember it though), make sure you go with him. He is great!

We drop our junk off, put on our bathing suits and head for the water!

We found a PERFECT spot right on the edge of the bay where you can lay in the water, feel the heat of the sun, but have a little bit of the water lapping up against your legs, arms, back, whatever. It was absoultely perfect.

This is the ocean... duh.

Once we head back to the room after like 5 hours of laying out, Amanda drops her bathing suit off of the line into the courtyard. The only way to get there is through a restaurant. We make friends with those people and get the bathing suit and end up eating there! Ended up with this best Trofie al Pesto we ever had. Well, the best pesto we ever had.

Best EVERRRRRR.

Then we went out onto the far rocks and chilled forrrrrrever.

Vernazza is immensely beautiful at night. You can hear ships, see the lighthouse, look at the people dancing in the bay area, look at locals doing their thing. It's really homey. Definitely recommend it.

You're thinking you should go now, right?

They also have the best gelato we ever had.

The gelato is at the end of the 'pier', before the end restaurant. Mmmmm...

The guy who owns this ate next to us at the restaurant. Love that small town thing.

Very typical tourists: Ciao Bella shirts, Italia Hats, Sunglasses.
