tv brainwashing? no way! tv addiction? ......! (9)

Hey - so I don't really watch TV. I watch Gossip Girl and The Office. That's pretty much it. We only got cable as of the end of September. So when the assignment came in to watch TV I was like "Woahhhh... I got out of that habit!" But oh well - I did it anyways! I learned that I love television that could be reality. I know a lot of TV shows are going for that right now. But I do not like shows like 24 where it isn't happening. See, in Gossip Girl it could be happening. I'm sure that there are people in New York with these sick twisted lives that I could never really place myself into, yet at the same time I love watching it for the fashion and the drama that doesn't exist in my life. Then there's The Office that is wonderful. It is funny and the drama is everyday office drama. It's very relate-able.

So I continued watching television. I found that I really like the station: CW. They have a lot of shows that were interesting that I found myself wanting to watch. I even went online to catch up on shows (what a waste of time - especially since I should be doing homework.. right?). Even still, I still love the show Gilmore Girls. It is a fast paced, reality based show. Then I like to watch the SNL - Thursday Night News Brief on NBC. NBC has great shows too. I think that their shows are geared a little bit differently than the CW, but I still enjoyed it all the same. It is different humor. I realized though that I like shows the most that have humor in it. I am pretty much obsessed with comedies. I re-learned that I hate commercials. Even though I am going into Advertising I will sometimes get so into the show that I can't stand the waiting, or the repetition of commercials. Mmm, not fun. TV provides me with the life I don't have. I live in the sheltered BYU community right now and don't really have access to the outside world as sad as that sounds. So it connects me with my summer life that I long so much for, and for the world after college. That's greatly expected.
